Oh....bollocks. :P

So, things are slowly beginning to settle down now I'm back from holiday and recovered from the illness that swiftly followed. Now deadline week is creeping up on me instead. Whoopie for me.

Aaaanyway....

Went to my sister's this weekend. She and family are (hopefully) moving house on Friday and because of the impending deadline it looks like I won't be able to help with the actual move. So I offered my assistance this weekend. Actually, because my sister and brother-in-law were the ones in the know as to what actually needed packing and organising and so on, it was decided the most useful thing I could do was look after my nephew. Which basically meant keeping him out of their way. A mean trick in itself.

He's way too nosey and smart and takes far too much enjoyment from following exactly what you're doing. So when he broke free from me he seemed to pack half of his cups and plates away in obscure boxes and lose half of them. So we played 'amuse the one year old' for the day. Surprisingly easy, he's a happy little chap and quite easy to keep amused as long as you move fast. He hates to sit still. He seemed highly amused by repeatedly bashing me on the head with building blocks, which I discouraged, and blowing rasperries on my stomach (because his mummy has been doing the same to him) and makes me giggle like a girl which he finds terribly amusing.

Anyway, nice to get some time with the ankle-biter. He's a happy little fella.

Also gave me the opportunity to listen to the Junior Senior album on the drive down. Really like it, although a few of the tracks are pretty samey, it's hard not to be drawn in by their seemingly endless enthusiasm. All rather cheesy but the blend of dance, 60s tinted grooves, with influences from the Beach Boys, Dylan, Velvet Underground to the Stones, and plenty of shouty hand clapping mean it's all good fun. Okay, some of the lyrics reak of European Pop (can't remember where they're from. Swedish? Norweigian?) like 'Shake your coconuts, coco boys! Until the milk comes out, coco girls!' etc and there's a heavy reliance of the words girl, boy, dance, move, dancefloor, one, two, three, go and party, but who cares. It's cheese and proud.

Yupyup.
