angelophile: (Oscar Wilde - Pimp Hat)

I've been going through old entries, trying to tag them so I can find stuff like my movie reviews in one simple hit. And starting to think I shouldn't have started, it's going to take me months.

It's been kinda interesting to see how my opinions on stuff has changed, the differences in the readership of this journal a few years ago to now, the differences in what I used to post and so on.

For example, I discovered a post where I said I really liked Greg Land's art. Huh. Then another a couple of months later where I said "Sometimes I think he just traces this stuff." I guess I was so innocent back then.

Or posts where I was really excited for a Joe Mad and Jeph Loeb project for Marvel. Or Death's Head III. And then expectations came crashing down.

I did notice I used to do reviews of stuff way more often though - books every time I read one, movies on a regular basis, comics pretty much every week. I stopped doing comic reviews because few people were interested at the time and it was kinda a lot of effort. I'm starting to wonder if I should start again, though. Mind you, I don't go every week and currently am three weeks (or more) behind with books. Do people really want to read reviews for comics a few weeks after they've come out?

I'm gonna bang up some reviews again (maybe today, maybe tomorrow), but do people want to read them?

Let me know below:

I think I had a similar innocent reaction to Land. At first, "Hey, that's quite pretty art", followed by a gradual realization that the pretty art looks awfully the same in different issues, followed by learning outright that, yes, he traces, badly, and it's all pornfaces.

Yeah, I think that's it. Phoenix: Endsong was my first encounter with him and, at the time, looked pretty. But when I read him on Ultimate Fantastic Four and spotted a lot of the recycled poses and grew more aware that characters looked different from panel to panel depending on what model had been traced, along with the cheesecake poses, it didn't look so fresh.
