Fun Fact of the day: Around 500,000 around the world die each year from bog standard flu. About 456,000 deaths from TB. Malaria is likely to contribute to another 2 million deaths yearly. AIDs claimed another 2 million.
Even after a successful flu jab programme, over a thousand people die from ordinary flu every year in the UK. Not a single person has yet died from swine flu in the UK.
April 25th marked World Malaria Day, part of a global initiative to try and end deaths from malaria by 2015. Unfortunately it didn't get much press because we were worried about a girl with a slight snuffle.
Our priorities are currently a little off.
Be careful, be vigilant, don't dismiss the swine flu pandemic, but simply listen and evaluate for yourselves.
