A little Who and Torchwood rambling

Iiiinteresting.

Bad news is that Noel Clarke's ruled out returning to Doctor Who. Good news is that RTD clearly states in his book that he brought Mickey back to the Whoniverse because they promised Noel Clarke Torchwood series 3. Now, whether he's actually in it or not isn't confirmed, but he's been dropping hints for a while now about a secret TV project he can't talk about yet. Perhaps popping up at the end of Torchwood's abbreviated third series and then an ongoing role in the as yet unconfirmed fourth? We shall see, I guess.

A central role in series 3 seems unlikely - I doubt that would still be a secret and the team have stated that the 5-episode format will serve to focus on the remaining team, with the addition of one rookie character and the "Mr Frobisher" character. But that doesn't rule out setting up Mickey for the next series.

However, the comments about focusing on the remaining trio seems to conflict with the reports that Freema Agyeman was due to be a major character in the third series of Torchwood, but left the writers fuming when she opted to sign up for an ITV UK version of Law and Order instead (maybe she was cast as "third chair from the right") and they had to throw scripts out and do major rewrites. That in turn conflicts with the reports that the relationship is still solid enough for her to be returning before the end of Tennant's run. What to believe?

All I know is that I hope Frobisher turns out to be an alien penguin.
