RIP Patrick McGoohan and Ricardo Montalban, whose deaths were announced yesterday.
Patrick McGoohan was, of course, best known for starring in cult 1960s TV show The Prisoner as No. 6, but also won two Emmys for his work on Columbo, also starred in Danger Man/Secret Agent and on the big screen, in Escape from Alcatraz, Scanners and more recently, in his critically acclaimed role as Edward Longshanks in Braveheart. He died on Jan. 13 in Los Angeles. He was 80.
Ricardo Montalban, the Mexican-born actor who became a star in splashy MGM musicals and later as the wish-fulfilling Mr. Roarke in TV's "Fantasy Island," died Wednesday morning at his home, his family said. He was 88. More recently, he appeared as villains in two hits of the 1980s: "Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan" as the eponymous Khan and - in line with his always-apparent sense of humor about himself - the farcical "The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad."
Hopefully they're off at a swinging garden party somewhere together, sipping G&Ts in their smart sixties suits.
