Torchwood MK II

And if the rest of the series is like this, Torchwood has undergone enough of a rebirthing to make it worth watching. Some excellent tongue-in-cheek humour and self-parody of how angsty the first series was and a lot more knowing celebration of camp helped with making it a fun ride. Some good one liners ("Excuse me madam, have you seen a blowfish driving a sports car?"), enough un-subtle double-entendres it felt like we'd stumbled into Carry On Doctor Who and James Marsters full of vim and swagger as "metrosexual Spike meets Flashman" in the shape of Captain John. Everyone a lot more likable, although Jack still a little too broody, but a good start to the series.
Looks like I might have to watch again.
Potentially a good series coming up with Alan Dale, Richard Briers, the return of Martha Jones and, perhaps, someone seen in this episode, and the end of the world ("Let's all have sex." As if the end of the world wasn't bad enough.").
I approve. Torchwood never clicked with me and I dunno whether it was just the sheer entertainment value of James Marsters just having a blast, but I'm now prepared to give this another shot.
