Yes, yes, apparently it does. Johnny Depp's no Ray Winstone, but Tim Burton's adaptation of the Stephen Sondheim musical boasts regulars Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter along with Alan Rickman, Tim Spall, Sacha Baron Cohen, Tony Head and Peter Bowles. And if any musical was made for Tim Burton it's this one.
In unrelated news, I hadn't heard about this before, but apparently Terry Pratchett's The Colour of Magic is being adapted by the same team that did the slighly lacklustre Hogfather, with David Jason as Rincewind and Sean Astin rumoured as Twoflower.
Both those parts seem woefully miscast to me, but there's Christopher Lee once again playing Death, apparently and a Tim Curry villain so maybe it won't be all bad.

Date: 2007-10-05 05:35 pm (UTC)I could stomach David Jason as Albert but he was trying far to hard to be the star in Hogfather. Now, Nigel Planer, who was Sideney in Hogfather, would make a great Rincewind.
I know any adaptation can never match what you have in your mind but I'm surprised they could go quite THAT wrong.
