Me, myself and I

So, yeah, it was deadline week last week, for those of you wondering why my LJ was filled with even more Youtube links and nothingness than normal. Also, my domains been down for a couple of weeks and only just seems to have returned. Long may it last.
Apparently people in the US have a holiday today to labour. Isn't that an oxymoron? How does that make sense? Get back to work, people!
I had my day off last Monday on the much more sensible August Bank Holiday. Not that I went to any banks. Had to work Sunday to catch up, but Monday I went out to a concert in the park thing just down the road from me, which was completely packed out. Apparently around 20,000 people there over the course of the day and it was certainly busy when I was there. There was a couple of half-decent bands and an entertaining Queen tribute act who did ther best to capture the feel of the band and were certainly appreciated by the crowd.
Deadline was busy, but not horrifically so, but even so I was exhausted all weekend, simply through lack of sleep. Too many late nights and the beginnings of a cold catching up with me and knocking me for six. I didn't do a whole lot, as usual, over the weekend. The most exciting events I can claim was doing my shopping, spending time round at my sister's and family and battling with my computer, which doesn't seem to like the second-hand DVD writer I got and has been giving me all kinds of trouble over the weekend.
Now I'm struggling with the new logos and designs we need for the new publication title and geographical areas we're covering with our magazine. All change, since it's been a couple of years since we expanded, but it's a lot of work for me to update every bit of stationery we produce. Ho hum, I'll get there in the end.
This week I intend to try making sushi. Wish me luck.
In other news, I've been watching the BBC production of I, Claudius, which knocks the socks off Rome. You can't go wrong with a cast that includes Brian Blessed as Augustus, John Hurt suitably chilling as Caligula, George Baker as Tiberius, Patrick Stewart as Sejanus and, of course, Derek Jacobi as Claudius, but it's Siân Phillips as the machiavellian Livia who rules every scene she's in. Utterly sublime. And I'm only just over half way through. A real epic.
