My weekend

Had a fairly busy weekend this week. It was the week of my dad's show, High Society, which everyone saw the poster for a few weeks back. As usual I went along to support him, and the others in the production who I know. I have to say it was an extremely good show, close to professional standards. It helped that one of my old classmates stepped in to take one of the leads at the last minute - a good thing because he's been at Stage School the last couple of years, so he added to the level of professionalism and made everyone else even better.
Anyway, had a late night on Saturday because of the after show party and there was a air bit of appreciation and compliments for all my work on the publicity. Nice to hear positive comments. Hopefully the posters helped to get a few more bums on seats.
Yesterday was fairly mellow as we were all recovering from Saturday night. Pottered around with my folks, had a nice walk on the beach and generally chilled. Last night I had a production meeting for the next show I'm personally involved in - as publicity designer, set designer and stage manager.
Pretty productive. We worked through a few of the most tricky problems, such as how to have a barn catch light and collapse, crushing an actor to death before burning him to ashes every night. Unfortunately the theatre won't actually let us do it for real, so we're going to have to do it with lighting, smoke machines and various mechanical means that will allow beams to collapse without killing anyone. Takes all the fun out of it.
Anyway, I put the finishing touches to the poster today, but as usual I'd appreciate comments:
Here's a bit about the play itself:
"Dennis Potter's play 'Blue Remembered Hills' relates the activities of seven West Country seven year olds on a summer afternoon in 1942.
The children (all played by adults) play, fight, fantasize and live our their aggressions, fears and rivalries in a parody of adult interaction.
Easy-going Willie tags along as burly Peter bullies gentle, stammering Raymond. Peter is then challenged by fair-minded John. Plain Audrey is overshadowed by
pretty Angela. All of them gang up on the disturbed Donald who, abused by his mother and ridiculed by his peers, plays a dangerous game of pyromania that ends in tragedy."
