Just discovered that youtube.com has clips of The Day Today, the sublimely brilliant BBC spoof news series. Of particular interest is the section that became a true cult classic for my housemates and I at college. Whenever we got together, we would always end up watching this section of the show over and other.
It's the Rok TV section, mercilessly mocking both MTV Europe and the music scene of the time (this is going back some). So, you catch sight of ukelele maestro George Formby performing Bob Dylan's Subterranian Homesick Blues ("Dylan, who is in hospital after eating a rotten wolf, has so far been unavailable for comment"), Nirvana doing an advert for sanitary towels and rapper Fur Q who controversially kills people on stage during his live show. All written and performed by Chris Morris, the satirist who raised a national outcry when his other spoof news show, Brass Eye, mocked the national hysteria on the issue of pedophilia.
I could watch this over and over.
