New Mutants: The Lost Story

This one passed me by when it was posted a week ago, but it seems that Nunzio DeFilippis
has finally revealed the plot to the "LOST NEW MUTANTS STORY" revolving around Victor, Shan, Northstar and a suicide at Xavier's.

I have to say, I think editorial made the right choice to pull this story.



For a start, no one would have come out of this story looking good.

Victor would have been made out to be a victim, rather than a role model.

Northstar would have been a cold-hearted, seemingly selfish bastard, whodidn't give a shit about Victor but only himself and the "pink cause".

Shan would have seemed cowardly.

David and Victor's parents, as well as other parents in the book, would have all been hateful biggots.

Worst of all, Julian and Josh would have been close to being murderers, clearly driving Victor to suicide. That would have been unforgivable, and as the writers suggested, no amount of sympathetic scenes could have healed the damage done to those characters.

Julian has become my favourite character in the book and they would have killed any chanceof that with that one story.

I'm glad it was pulled.

Ehh, I would have made some changes to it, softening some characters reactions, but I don't think it deserved to be pulled entirely.

It wasn't. Some of the stuff made it in there.

I think the story that was used was a lot more palatable. I have to say, I think Marvel were right not to run it as it stood.
