Another GREAT episode. There's not been a foot put wrong in this series so far. It's been pretty much entirely wonderful. Tonight's ep was no exception - some extrely good acting, even from the small part players, and Simon Callow rules the roost with his delightfully poignant guest appearance as Charles Dickens. It's a sustained gag that could have fallen completely flat, but Callow's performance in a role he's rapidly making his own, was excellent and believable in a plot that could have gone the way of farce. The story managed to plunge the Doctor, Rose and Dickens into a living ghost story as ghosts and zombies came to life on the streets of Victorian Cardiff. Oh, and it had aliens too. Just some pirates and it would have been the greatest story ever.

Still, every episode seems a step up on the one before - this one was written by one of the League of Gentlemen but there was very little humor in this episode. What there was was brilliantly judged.

This series has me a child again and I'm loving every second.
