I'm a fickle bastard and every week it seems I have a new tune stuck in my head that I'll play and play to death and then probably forget about for six months. It doesn't have to be a new song or one I'm hearing for the first time, something will just trigger a desire to listen to a record to death.

This week it's David Bowie's Bring Me the Disco King. I don't even know how recent it is, I'm assuming it's from the past 3 years or so, and I don't even know where I got it from. It just ended up in my mp3s and I've fallen in love with. It's one of those Bowie tunes that reverberats around your head and prods your soul. Subdued and mournful in parts, crashing strings in others. One of those hauntingly beautiful newer Bowie songs like Nature Boy from Moulin Rouge that has an epic feel to it.

It's one of those songs that should have been in Lost in Translation, having the feel of being lost somewhere untouchable. When I hear it something about it reminds me of riding around New York at night in the back of a cab, the world sweeping away around me, a detatched obsurer to the scale and beauty of the city. Or the similar feeling of driving down a multilaned highway at dawn and being the only car on the road. The loneliness and isolation of it all.
