NYCX is a continuity-free X-men mush where you'll see many familiar characters from the comics, cartoons and movies, but with a twist. This is a 'what if?' that focuses on reality and the darkness of the human nature. How the environment is shaped depends on you, the players, and your characters. The world you know ICly will be shaped completely by your actions. Perhaps you will form a team of mutant extremists. Perhaps you will end up on the streets. Perhaps you will take an interest in politics and seek to correct the system or to revolt. Any fate is possible and we want to see all the corners explored.

It is only recently that there was a sudden explosion of numbers of homo superior. With this sudden increase in numbers mankind has become aware that they are not alone. A new race has emerged among them. Some people fear mutants, some people are indifferent and others are fascinated by them. Public opinion is divided from human extremists who still believe in lynch mobs to the groupies who are obssessed with mutants and their powers.

Essentially, while we have taken themes and characters from Marvel comic books and a familiar setting in the shape of New York City, this is where the similarity ends. At the time of setting up this MUX there are no X-men or the mansion, no Brotherhood, just a blank slate for the players to write their own ideas on. The only established organization is the Division 6, a police force that focuses on criminal investigations that deals with mutants. On the force are both humans and mutants, some corrupt and some with a good heart, although all unknowingly aiding a government project that deals with mutant experimentation called Weapon Plus.

New York city has become the focus for some of the most obvious mutant activity with changes happening everyday. It's a strange new world where anything could happen.
