Cinema and stuff...
Jan. 21st, 2004 11:40 pmWell just got back from seeing Lost in Translation and I have to say I agree with the recommendations people have given me. It really was an excellent movie - funny, touching without being sickeningly sweet, intelligent and brilliantly actd, particularly by Bill Murray who seems to have perfected the tired resignation of middle age that he did so well in Rushmore.
I genuinely hope he gets an Oscar nod for the performance as it was really great. Nicely understated - it would have been so easy to overplay or let too much sentiment creep in - imagine Robin Williams in the role and see if you think it would have been as good a movie.
Bill Murray's a gem.
Anyway, the movie perfectly suited my mood which has been mellow and drained today. Just felt generall out of sorts and resigned to crappy life. I've felt better. Probably just need a good night's sleep to clear the blues.
So off I go...
