Another update

Anyway, been a busy few days since my last post. Still hard at work attempting to get the January issue of the magazine to the printers. So, I was in work on Friday from 9 til 10 at night, and yesterday for the usual hours. Now just waiting for one press release to come in so I can finish the final page. Final deadline is in about 20 minutes so they'll have to hurry.
Sat twiddling my thumbs til then.
The weekend was a little more relaxed, but thoroughly miserable as I managed to get yet another cold. I suspect it has a lot to do with my walking a mile or so home in the rain and freezing cold on New Years Eve. Saturday I felt utterly miserable and wanted nothing to do except curl up in bed and nap in the evening. Unfortunately my dog wouldn't allow it. After her period of not eating and extreme illness a few weeks ago she seemed to get better for a while, but she was still extremely unsteady on her feet. When she went to the vet just before Christmas she said that it was likely she's either had a stroke or has some bleeding in the brain, rather than it being her legs that are causing her difficulty, as she leans to the side. The upshot was that she gave us some steroids for the dog that should have made her a lot better. For a couple of days she was but after that she started to deteriorate again, and over Chistmas she hasn't been 100% at all. She's not in any pain or immediate distress, but when an animal has to be spoon fed and can't walk without having to lean on someone or something its hardly a good sign.
She would have most likely had a return visit to the vets last week, but as she wasn't really getting drastically worse, but just no better, my dad and I persuaded my mum to put it off until after New Year. Would have been a miserable New Year for everyone to have the family pet put down just before Christmas of New Year.
Anyway, the upshot is that it seems highly unlikely that the quality of life for my dog will be such that we can keep her going. She's obviously not happy, she looks so sad every time her legs give out and she rolls onto her back. It's unfair to keep her going any longer so she has an appointment with the vets this afternoon, which in all likelyhood will lead to her being put down.
So that's that.
On a cheerier note, had a nice day on Sunday with the family. Went to my sister's and her new husband's for our 'Christmas' dinner, since we didn't get together at the time. So presents were to be had. Woot. I got a cool khaki t-shirt with Decepticon symbol emblazoned in yellow, very trendy. Also a magnetic desktop ball thingie (can't describe it), some Dolche Gabanna (sp?) toiletries and a table air hockey game (great fun).
Had a reshuffle at the weekend too. My parents bought a new second hand telly for the lounge (ours has been on the way out). We also had my Gran's ol 21" TV which we hadn't done anything with. So while we were reorganising we shifted that TV to my room in replacement of my old 14" screen. Much better. Lord of the Rings was slightly less impressive with magnificent surround sound on through my stereo and DVD and with figures the size of ants on my 14" screen.
Who says size doesn't matter?
Finally got my Evanescence album back from my sister, who's had it about 6 months. I had it about 2 weeks I think. Reminds me of someone a lot (you know who you are) so I was thinking about her as I drove into work today listening to it. Damn I miss her. Don't see nearly enough of her.
Anyhow...
Am I the only one to notice that on My God My Tourniquet she sings it a 'turny-ket' instead of 'torny-kay'. It's cute. Obviously no-one's told her it's French. Just entertained me. I'm sad.
Not looking forward to returning home tonight to find no dog. Dwelling. :P
