HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Yep, another new year comes along. Welcome to 2004 everyone. Me? I'm a little damp, feeling the usual empty 'welcome to a new year ALONE' feeling. So, tonight was supposed to be a quiet night in. Never happened though. Had a quiet evening with my parents, had a nice meal and then we settled down for a couple of drinks. Got a call from my sister's ex who was out in town. Swanagge used to be theplace to go in the uK after Trafalgar Square for new year. Last time I went out in town there was about 16,000 people out in the town. Not bad for a town with a poulation of half that.
Since those days however, we've all grown older and wser apparently and the appeal in standing in the rain and cold seeing New Year in has waned. Tonight it was the dregs of human society out. The 16 year olds out to get blotto on cider and the 40 year olds in cheerleader outfits with legs you'd need a grappling hook and a ladder to climb.
So, it was a fairly subdued affair. Had a few drinks and marvelled that people still dance to Whigfield and the Macarana. New year came around and it was a pretty miserable affair. Stood out n the cold and the rain playing gooseberry with james and his new girlfiend. The traditional new years entertainment of seeing in new year with a semi-attractive woman for cuddles and perhaps a kiss or two failed miserably. Hard to find a semi-attractivbe woman when the only females in the vicinity are barely pushing 16.No thanks.
So, I stood in the rain, then went for a few more drinks. At least I had the pleasure of texts from my friends I couldn't be with.
Back home then for pizza and sleep. So, before I go, happy new year everyone!
New years' resolutions? Not many. Needto get in touch with a fewfriend's I've lost contact with in the last year. Rick especially. My oldest friend and i haven't spoken to him all year. Probably a bit upset at me for missing his wedding at the beginning of the year. At the point where I was less than... cheery. Couldn't be helped I didn't make it but he's probably less than happy with me that I didn't. Have to rebuild some bridges there.
Those of you who have been around and supported me this year, my thoughts, best wishes and more are with you. It's meant a lot to have friends around who cared in one of the most difficult years of my life.
