Just finished reading Uncanny X-men, as the first of my purchases, and in truth I was vaguely relieved. It could have been a lot worse. The whole arc has been a horrible wreck of a storyline. Maybe it was the relief that it's finally over that's led me to be so forgiving.

There's at least a couple of positive points about this issue that I didn't actively hate. First were the scenes with Juggernaut which were actually pretty good. Half decent stuff, but then the Juggy sub-plot hasn't been awful in previous issues.

Finally Jubilee and Paige got a chance to -do- somehing, although quite when did Paige get so... useless? She was more effective in the early days of Gen X than she is now. Since she was introduced her only role has been to be in peril so Warren can save her.

Jubilee had petty much the best line of the issue, and actually acted -in character-. whether by sheer fluke or not I have no idea.

Thankfully Bobby finally got some airtime too, and the hint of a future tangled romantic subplot isn't too horrible to contemplate. Now Carter's no longer feeling the need to mentally manipulate Alex and Annie let's see how long they last.

On the negative side, and there's plenty to complain about, this issue's art was HORRIBLE. Looks like it was drawn by a drunk Pokemon artist. I've rarely seen art this bad in any comic book and for it to pass in one of Marvel's flagship titles is a travesty.

The piss poor plotting continues to grate. the fact that Azazel needs to produce offsprint that can teleport to open a gateway out of his demension is ridiculous when it's already establish he already does that to propegate any children anyway. The threat level this issue seemed to have dropped dramatically - gone is the army pictured in previous issues, there's just a couple of token baddies here.

Mystique's appearance continues to bewilder me. Logan's appearance is equally pointless. There's continual inconsistances with powers. Jubilee's fireworks are now just light where as previously she could blow up buildings with them. Kurt is suddenly able to teleport, while earlier in the arc it's established this is supposed to be the dimension he passes through when he teleports. so quite where is he going when he telports now? confusing.

Main reaction though is 'at least that's over.'
