I swear if I get the same question asked of me for the -fifth- time in a row by the wankers at work I'l end up throttling someone.
Anyway...
Busy busy here. Just waiting for Quark to stop pissing me about and for the boss to make up his mind how many pages the magazine is running to this month and I'll be happy.
Well, happyish. At least less psychotic.
Fairly relaxed weekend here despite it being deadline. After my Friday night out I came into work to try and break the back of the weekend's work. Managed that at least, set the 8 or so pages I had clogging up my in tray. Then back home to potter a bit with my new Wanda photomanip. For those who haven't seen the pic you can find it on my Renderosity gallery HERE.
Yesterday was a bit more relaxing. Loafed around in bed watching DVDs for some of the morning, then went back to sleep for a couple of hours. Sounds lazy sure, but with deadline approaching I have the sense to get sleep when I can get it. Had a decent soak in the bath, leisurely lunch, then started work on my next photomanip, which I actually finished off this morning. Just needed to add the backgound. Pretty pleased with it, I'll post it later this evening.
Crushing foolishly on someone at the moment, and in danger of ballsing things up completely unless I have the sense to back off a bit. Not got much sense though, never have. I'm just lonely at the moment, which is no doubt the main reason I'm forming an attachment to this person, but it's not a good idea to push things further. Like I need another long distance relationship. I want someone here and now. Meh. Not that I didn't love the relationships I had before but they're not as easy as I need it, or indeed anyone else needs it either. Hrm... what the hell am I talking about now?
Anyway...
Caught up with comics a bit. Bought a whole bunch of Excalibur back-issues in the comic sale and I'm actually really enjoying the few I've read so far. Warren Ellis' stuff grows on me each time I read more of his stuff. He did a good job on the Generation X revamp and Stormwatch etc. One to watch, although I'm probably about 5 years out of date.
Other comics this week - Emma Frost, which I thoroughly enjoyed. Nothing spectacular in terms of story but nice art and decent character development, with the Frost sisters well written. There's certainly a good few references to previously established canon history, which eases the worry they were going to retell Emma's story and disregard everything established before.
Uncanny was average this week. No real retcons I guess, but a fair amount of dramatic stupidity. What bugged me most is what's going on with Bobby. His friggin' head comes off in Warren's hands and no-one really comments on it. No-one even says 'well that's never happened before.' His FRICKIN' HEAD CAME OFF!! Jeez, you'd think people would be a -bit- more concerned with his decapitation. He wasn't even mentioned this week. Other minor irritations - bad art of Abyss, complication of the already complicated Kurt family tree, and why the hell Logan got to st on the top table with the grownups? He isn't even involved in the story.
Needs more Jubilee too.
Good, if slightly overly sentimental, 500th anniversary issue of Amazing Spiderman with Peter re-enacting his greatest battles with his greatest foes. Good art as always with a nice doublepage splash of Spidey with his ultimate villains a highlight.
X-statix was a mixed bag this week. Some -really- funny moments. (Which I'll no doubt rave about later). But the retconned Di Another Day storyline doesn't really work with the rewrites. They may as well have dropped it entirely, as the mixed rewrite bag is just a mess.
Anyway, back to work...
