It could be a good thing. A chance to add a lot of diversity and remove some problematic junk from the DCU as well as presenting a relatively clean starting point for which new readers to jump in on(while shooting old readers who wanting to continue the same stories in the foot, granted).
Though I have no faith in DC to do any good with this and even expect the worse. I see this as a win-win way for me to look at it. I mean, if they prove me wrong, DC might be readable again. If the prove me right, I can continue not buying them in peace.
