For those on my friends list that missed it, Pete Wisdom and the Skrull Beatles fight off an invasion of martians.
In a week where there's been a huge amount to annoy me (Judd Winick and Bendis intervies on Newsarama, Catwoman's latest developments, a couple of characters getting fridged), at least I can look forward to Cornell's run on Excalibur if it's as delightfully cracktastic as his Wisdom miniseries. (H.G. Wells martians, an invasion from fairyland, an army of Jack the Rippers, sleeping giants, a fist fight between a Welsh dragon and Shang-Chi, master of Kung Fu, John the Skrull, Captain Midlands).
That and his latest blog entry talking about Birmingham International Comic Show:
"The panel was packed, and we seemed to entertain the audience on the subject of the actual craft of writing. I was also very entertained by the quiz on Saturday, where we discovered that the sound effect of Captain America’s shield striking a surface was once the very onomatopoeic ‘wank!’ According to my sources, my last act on the Friday evening was to plonk myself down beside Emma, have an intense thirty second conversation about anime dubbing, declare that I was being boring now and run for the door. That autopilot of mine seems to still be working fine."
A man after my own hard-drinking liver.
