Fun day. The power supply on my cheesegrater G5 mac went AGAIN. Must have blown during the night sometime. Seems to be a common flaw but it was only after we'd dropped it in with a small local repair guy I checked how common. The 1000w power supplies seem to be a design flaw and fail all the time on that model. We've had it go twice now in under two years. However, Apple seem to have recognized it's a problem an extended the warranty for power faults to 2 years which means we need to get it back off the repair guy and drop it off with an authorized dealer. However, it's the difference of about 350 quid, (what, 600 bucks?), so worth doing, even if we have to wait longer.

Stupid thing, though. Luckily it's the beginning of the month and all work is backed up and I haven't lost anything major and we have a spare imac in the office at the moment that I can work on.

I blame Steve Jobs personally and demand recompense.

Paul Cornell's been announced as the new writer for New Excalibur, as was rumoured. Looks like Claremont is stepping down from that and Excalibur and, while it's sad to see the old guy bowing out, it's fantastic news for me that Cornell's replacing him. You know. Cornell. British guy. Wrote the Wisdom miniseries which had fairies, dragons, giants, Jack the Ripper and Martians battling Pete Wisdom, a skrull John Lennon, a goth fairy called Tink an Captain Midlands and had one of the most bitter sweet endings to any work of fiction ever, as well as writing the Human Nature/Family of Blood episodes of last series of Doctor Who. You know the guy. The talented one.

Who apparently turned up for a meeting with Marvel out of his gourd. He's really trying to be as British as possible isn't he?

Love it!
