Man oh man

I swear, NOTHING is guaranteed to piss me off like computers. I'm pretty patient with most things, but malfunctioning technology makes me want to commit genocide on a wide scale. Usually it's just simple things, or things that SHOULD be simple, like:
I decided to upgrade to the latest version of Quark.
That should be simple, BUT...
To run the latest version, I needed to install it with the date set forward a few years so the crack works (I'm not gonna spend £800 to see if the damn thing works). Installs okay, so far so good.
But then the old version of Quark won't run. Eh... not a big crisis, but...
So, I try opening the last issue of my magazine and, ah, problems. The fonts won't autoactivate because it needs an upgrade of one of the extensions. Download and install that and still no good, needs the latest version of Suitcase to autoload the fonts. Ehhh, okay, I'll try that.
Then I realise none of my cookies in Safari are working and I can't log into any forums or LJ or any other sites. Clear my cookies, same problem. Spend about half an hour tinkering before I remember I set the date forward. Set it back, problem solved.
Then try installing Suitcase. Works, but half the fonts we use, including the most common ones, refuse to load still. Try activating them manually - still no good, half the fonts aren't loading.
So apparently I'd need to upgrade about 50 or so fonts before the previous month's magazine will think about loading properly.
At this point I break a cup.
