AN injured bird is learning to walk again — with its leg in plaster.

Peewit the Lapwing was found at the side of a road with a compound fracture to his right knee.

He was treated at St Tiggywinkles wildlife hospital in Bournemouth, Dorset (Hey, just round the corner). Boss Les Stocker said Peewit is doing much better after a course of antibiotics and painkillers.

He added: “He’s walking again, albeit a bit clumsily. He’s making good progress and should be absolutely fine.”
