I'll do this again, since [livejournal.com profile] elsewhere7 is.

1) Open your mp3 player on your computer.
2) Note the first 15 songs it plays on 'random' setting.
3) Post your favorite lyrics from said songs.
4) Challenge your friends to identify the title and artist.

1. I'm going to Wichita
Far from this opera for evermore
    I'm gonna work the straw
Make the sweat drip out of every pore

The White Stripes - Seven Nation Army (Guessed by [livejournal.com profile] darcblayde)

2. Listen to me - Don't listen to me
Talk to me - Don't talk to me
Dance with me - Don't dance with me
    No - Beep-beep - Beep-beep

3. Growwww my hair, Grow my hair I am Jim Morrison
Growwww my hair, I wannabe wannabe wannabe Jim Morrison

Radiohead - Anyone Can Play Guitar (Guessed by [livejournal.com profile] darcblayde)

4. The colors of a rainbow, so pretty in the sky
Are also on the faces of people passing by

Louie Armstrong and countless others - What A Wonderful World (Guessed by [livejournal.com profile] darcblayde)

5. I'm always trying to keep my vices under wraps
But a coach load of mutes would appear talkative chaps
They seemed fit to join me for a couple of hits
But my septum is in tatters
And I've still got the runs

The Darkness - One Way Ticket (Guessed by [livejournal.com profile] darcblayde)

6. Tattoos of memories and dead skin on trial
For what it's worth it was worth all the while

Green Day - Good Riddance (Time of Your Life) (Guessed by [livejournal.com profile] darcblayde)

    I shook you up
    And turned you around
    Turned you into someone new

The Human League/The Farm - Don't You Want Me? (Guessed by [livejournal.com profile] darcblayde)

8. I ain't the sharpest tool in the shed
She was looking kind of dumb with her finger and her thumb
In the shape of an "L" on her forehead

Smash Mouth - All Star (Guessed by [livejournal.com profile] darcblayde)

9. Summer, Buddy Holly, the working folly
"Good Golly Miss Molly" and boats
    Hammersmith Palais, the Bolshoi Ballet
"Jump back in the alley" and nanny goats

Ian Dury and the Blockheads - Reasons to be Cheerful (Guessed by [livejournal.com profile] darcblayde)

10. I began to warm and chill
    To objects and their fields,
A ragged cup, a twisted mop
The face of Jesus in my soup

11. When your pubic hair's on fire,
When you think you're the Messiah,
When you mistake a plane for Venus,
When your girlfriend's got a penis

12. To think, I killed a cat
And may I say, (not in a gay way)

13. In ancient times, hundreds of years before the dawn of history.
There lived a strange race of people...the Druids.
No one knows who they were, or what...
     they were doing...

14. I wouldn't mind but she just turned up on the doorstep
     Wishful in ashes,
     slightly bedraggled

15. In the day we sweat it out in the streets of a runaway American dream
At night we ride through mansions of glory in suicide machines

The Visual Dictionary is a collection of words in the real world. Photographs of signage, graffiti, advertising, tattoos, you name it, they're trying to catalogue it.

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

"We started the project back in February, and have since racked up nearly 3000 images of 2000 words - thanks to everyone who has contributed to date. We're of course, still accepting entries..."

Oh, and do my music quiz, you miserable gits.

Police have foiled a major plot to "commit mass murder on an unimaginable scale" by destroying up to 10 passenger jets in mid-air.
The targets were flights leaving UK airports to the US.

Anti-terror police arrested 21 people in London, the Thames Valley and Birmingham on Wednesday night as stringent new security measures were imposed on all UK airports.

Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner Paul Stephenson told reporters at New Scotland Yard that the plot was designed to cause "untold death and destruction".

He added: "This was intended to be mass murder on an unimaginable scale."

Senior sources said the terrorists were believed to be planning to blow up as many as nine aircraft in a simultaneous attack.

I see you!

I'm having another one of my LJ purges.

Make suggestions! Are there people on your friends list I should be watching?

Are there feeds or communities you think I should be a member of?

Cartoons you think I'd enjoy?

Blogs I ought to be watching?

Make suggestions here!

Oh, and some of you that are watching ME, who are you, and why are you tormenting meeeee?!

angelophile: (Dr Who)

Hmmmm. Sounds good.

"The Doctor and Martha are destined to meet William Shakespeare, blood sucking alien Plasmavores, The Judoon - a clan of galactic stormtroopers and a sinister intelligence at work in 1930's New York."

I guess it's too much to hope that the blood suckers might be connected in some way to the guest slot from Anne Reid, who played Nurse Crane in the superlative "The Curse of Fenric".

And Captain Jack guest-starring, as well as appearing in the Torchwood spin-off series.

Yay!

Curiously, also news of another spin-off, this time for childrens television (whereas Torchwood is a "post-watershed" series).

"This week’s edition of Ariel, the Beeb’s in-house magazine, printed this intriguing little snippet:
CBBC is developing a spin-off series from Doctor Who based on the adventures of investigative journalist Sarah Jane, played by Elizabeth Sladen, and to be written by Russell T Davies. Sladen, who originally played the Doctor’s assistant in 1973, returned for the last series where she was seen vying with young Rose Tyler for the Doctor’s affections."
