Treated myself to lunch today. Completely forgot to arrange anything with my friends, but one of them can't do Fridays anyway, so maybe try and arrange something for next week. Didn't do anything fancy, went to the Spanish restaurant nearby and had a nice light lunch of tortilla, (the proper Spanish omlette, not Mexican thingies), garlic bread and salad. Nothing too heavy but I love tortilla. I could live off them. Unfortunately I suck at actually cooking them, although they should be horribly simple to prepare. What's the secret?
Mind you I can't cook any omlette. Always get burned on the bottom and liquid in the middle. I have a strange blind spot in this regard, considering I can cook most other things without blinking.
Anyway...
In other news, I have a busy day tomorrow. My brother in law's servicing my car so I have to drop it off with him, get to my sister's place and babysit. My parents are coming over at some point too, while my sister's on her hairdressing course. Then we'll all be going out for lunch, which'll be a pleasant day to spend my birthday. Won't be rushing back and will probably spend the whole day and evening at my sister's so don't expect to see much of me.
In other, unrelated news, Michael Bay, he of the car crashes, explosions and camera spin that is the director of the upcoming Transformers movie has updated his official site with more info, apparently a weekly occurance:
"The prep for the movie is going well. The military looks like it is going to support the film which is a big deal in giving the movie scope and credibility. The Pentagon has always been great with me because I make our military look good.
All the posts and talk about the original voices --- could we just let it rest for a while? I heard everyone, I'm thinking about it. We are reinventing how the robots look, transform and move - Remember these are the most realistic Transformers you will have ever seen. They have to fit completely into the human world to make this live action film credible. I have shown the animatics and some of the hundreds of drawings - TO THE MOST RELIGIOUS OF FANS - they tell me they are "mind-blowing" and "take it to a level they never considered" - I guess that's good? Time will tell.
Believe me I respect the fans. But I just want you to give me a chance because I'm working with some really talented artists to create this vision. But it is a vision that allows for growth, change, improvement and surprises. Looking back at the history of Transformers, remember there has been tons of change and improvements over the years.
I'm working on third act action, and if you could - what would you imagine for great robot action?
Talk to you soon,
All the best, Michael"This follows from
this post from last week.
All seems to be bubbling under nicely.
Oh, and for anyone that doesn't know, it's now settled that there won't be any size shifting in the movie, so Soundwave as a tape deck and Megatron as a gun are history. And this morning the writer also confirmed that Soundwave won't be a helicopter either, which he apparently was in the last draft of the script.
I'm glad about both. I hate size shifting with a passion for this movie and I was never sold on a helicopter either. I'm still hoping for a military communications vehicle or stealth jet.
