So The Office won two Golden Globes last night. One for best TV comedy and another for Ricky Gervais for Best Comedy Actor.
This bemuses me. I'm surprised anyone over there actually -understands- The Office. It's one of the most subtle and twisted comedy shows out there and is quintesentially British. One of those comedies that we're so good at that's less jokes and more embarrassingly cringeworthy moments where the hand creeps for the remote to change the channel because it's so painful to watch.
For those not in the know, The Office is effectively a spoof 'fly on the wall' documentary on a Slough paper merchants. Nothing happens, there are no jokes, it's just painful comedy. I guess the closest equivilent would be This Is Spinal Tap. But a lot more grounded in reality.
Still bemused that anyone in the US gets the humour.
Ho hum...
