Anyway, got offered a part in that play. Not sure -what- part yet, but I know I have a part. Quite a large part too (insert joke here).

Why am I so vague? Well I was offered two parts. That of Wood - the 17 year old murderer (the part I'd really rather not have. The trouble is, if they can't find anyone else to do that part the play can't go ahead.) The part I'd -prefer- is Montagu, the assistant defence barrister, who has a couple of decent beefy scenes and isn't quite so intense. Wood has a wide range of emotions between fear, horror, hatred, rage, manipuative and so on and for my first part for about 10 years in anything major I'd rather avoid taking on such an important role.

That's not even counting the fact I have deadlines which are going to eat into rehersal time.

Anyway, so, I'm going to be an actor again. Hey zippidy dee.

Finished reading Robert Harris' latest novel last night, Pompeii. Facinating read. Has got me browsing websites this morning, looking at the biographies of the historical figures featured in the book and more about the eruption of Vesuvius. Heartily recommended if history interests you at all.

Robert Harris is the author of a number of novels based around historical events, such as Fatherland, (a what if murder mystery sent in a Third Reich where Germany won the Second World War,) Enigma (about the true life breaking of the Enigma codes at Bletchley Park that was so important in the Allies victory in WWII) and Arcangel (another 'what if' premise about the idea that Stalin might have had a secret heir).

All his novels are excellent and interesting reads, so check 'em out. ;)

Just got back from watching Master and Commander. So flippin' good. Much as I hate to give the asshole Crowe kudos he's made another bloody great movie. Assisted ably by great source material, a fantastic diector and an even better British supporting cast no doubt.

Hertily recommended to anyone who likes dramticmovies with an actual story amid the action. Another Gladiator, although I think this may actually have the edge over that.

I've never been insane, put my baby on a plane
with a suitcase that's alive and kicking
And your honour i confess that I've never tasted meths
or hid a gun in a box of fried chicken
I've never been to Amsterdam, left my heart in Vietnam
or sol gum on the streets of Mexico
never smuggled pot or been murdered in my squat
two stories from the top of a no go

I've never had to stael or sell my body for a meal
cigarettes, alcohol or drugs
I've never had a tattoo or scar that wouldn't heal
Pump it up Jack, pump it up Jack, pump it up!

I've never been on strike, or a speeding motorbike
been propositioned beten up or mugged
I've got 20/20 vision but I've never seen the light
Pump it up Jack, pump it up Jack, pump it up!

And if you're looking for trouble
You came to the wrong place

I've never gone cold turkey in a shed in Albuquerke
or played chicken on a railway line
I've never been a litter bug, given head or taken drugs
Pump it up Jack, pump it up Jack, pump it up!

Crack that whip across my thigh
stick a needle in my eye
Cross my heart and hope to die
I have lived a sheltered life
