This is the sound of an eclectic guitar

Not done this for a couple of weeks, so here's another selection of songs off my playlist for your enjoyment. Various artists, eclectic sounds.
ACDC – Whole Lotta Rosie
A glorious slice of rock cheese from the godfathers of them all. A thumping, screeching love song to a woman carrying a few extra pounds. Knocks Fat Bottomed Girls into a cocked hat. And then pogos on it.
The Streets – Fit But You Know It
The ballad of a drunken holiday encounter from a modern pop poet. One of those songs that's indescribable and weird and wonderful. And for anyone who's had a few too many drinks and checked out the girls in the local kebab shop, disturbingly familiar.
Josh Ritter – Country Song
A curious song from John Ritter that is full of atmospheric imagery and a cracking, driving tune, unashamedly glorying in a good ol' boys lifestyle. Fantastic vocals and bouncing percussion paying tribute to the "ghost of Patsy Cline."
Ash – Kung Fu
Fantastic, rocking love song to Kung Fu B-movies and Hong Kong cinema that got picked up for the end credits to Jackie Chan's Rumble in the Bronx – and with good reason, since it names him along with a number of other icons. Driving, grinding guitar and searing vocals, this is the sound of my early college years.
Edwyn Collins – The Campaign for Real Rock
Edwin Collin's deliciously bitter diatrade against the fake pop star lifestyle. Starting with an acoustic guitar rhythm, switching gears several times, and breaking out into fuzzy electric guitar. Snarky lyrics throughout, a wonderful chorus that's both uplifting and caustic and real hatred seeping through on occasion. Beautiful.
Madness & Ian Dury – Drip Fed Fred
The meeting between the Nutty Boys and their "Uncle Ian" is as theatrical and bouncy as expected, as Dury's snarling, East End vocals are tossed into the mix with Madness's customary, ska-lite meets carnival accompaniment in this offbeat tale of a Kray-like London gangster. "We want Freddie for our leader" indeed.
Andrew W.K. – Party Hard
An unashamed good time cheesfest – a rock anthem to raise the roof with blistering guitars and eardrum-bursting vocals. Brainless lyrics, a thumping tune and glorying in the 80s rock roots, this one knocks it out of the park. Turn it up to 11.
