Okay, geeky me... What's everyone's favorite single comic issue.

I think mine has to be the issue of 'What If' with Death's Head, which was Simon Furman's chance to take revenge after the Death's Head II fiasco. The plotline of which was basically Death's Head II goes bad. Death's Head is called in to clean up the mess. He does this by recruiting the help of Cage, Namor, The Fantastic Four, War Machine and Captain America. Then he stands aside while Death's Head II casually slaughters off all the heroes in varying pathetic ways (Namor's head gets chopped off by Cap's Shield. The Thing bursts) and then while Death's Head II has been softened up he steps in with a REALLY big gun and blows him away.

That's oversimplifying a bit I guess, but not much. I just loved the issue because it was obviously such a personal thing from the writer who apparently -hated- what had been done to his character and also loathed the other lame Marvel characters. The whole sense of it being therapy is really obvious, but the whole thing is such slapstick it's also very very funny and a suitable return for a character that never should have been ruined in the first place.

Simon Furman went on to write Alpha Flight, She Hulk and other stuff before writing episodes of X-men Evolution, Beast Wars and other toons before returning to Transformers comics. I wonder if the REALLY big gun ever cropped up any where else. :)
