Not really a reply, more an essay on Marvel's collection programme

Nope, that was only #10. #11, with the new creative team (where I jumped back on) was back to $2.99. #10 had a couple of stories, and I think was oversized.

The real Runaways issue at present is one that Marvel have in general. A couple of years ago, Marvel made it easy to jump on titles with a good trade programme. Now they've introduced comprehensive Premiere HCs, which are more expensive, and put off some (me, at least). This means that the trade isn't out until it's about 12 issues behind the title, which makes joining in with single issues hard.

The point is that this hits Runaways a lot harder: Joss Whedon's digest just came out because the title's just switched from a single issue/digest/OHC schedule to a issue/PHC/TPB/Digest[/OHC maybe?] schedule. In addition to the delays in Whedon's run, which killed a lot of the momentum of the title, this has pushed the digest schedule back to insane lengths. I can't help thinking this isn't helping sell new content in the long term.

More packagings of the same material produces more sales, it seems, but of less material.
