Finished reading Robert Harris' latest novel last night, Pompeii. Facinating read. Has got me browsing websites this morning, looking at the biographies of the historical figures featured in the book and more about the eruption of Vesuvius. Heartily recommended if history interests you at all.

Robert Harris is the author of a number of novels based around historical events, such as Fatherland, (a what if murder mystery sent in a Third Reich where Germany won the Second World War,) Enigma (about the true life breaking of the Enigma codes at Bletchley Park that was so important in the Allies victory in WWII) and Arcangel (another 'what if' premise about the idea that Stalin might have had a secret heir).

All his novels are excellent and interesting reads, so check 'em out. ;)
